04 · Lake & around

Big lake. Big horizon.

On the water, in the gums, or out across the Mallee, here's what fills a few days here.

On the water

As busy or as quiet as you want it to be.

  • Fishing
Redfin, carp and yellowbelly from the bank, the jetty, or your own boat off the ramp.
  • Kayak & SUP
Glassy mornings, almost no current, easy paddling from the foreshore. BYO or hire in summer.
  • Pedal boats & canoes
    Hire from the kiosk, $15/hour.
  • Water skiing
Open water and calm mornings make for great skiing behind your own boat.
  • Swimming
Calm, shallow water that's safe for kids, warming up through spring and summer.
  • Birdwatching
Pelicans, kookaburras, kingfishers, parrots, show up most days without trying.
  • Stargazing
Clear Mallee skies, well away from city lights. Best on a new moon.
